This adventure travel itinerary will cover Delhi, Shimla, Kinnaur, Lahaul Spiti, Manali, Rewalsar, Dharamshala and Mcleodganj in 19 days and is a great choice for a leisurely vacation which is an optimum mixture of adventure, r sightseeing, interacting with locals in a relaxing vacation package.
Day 01: Delhi Arrival
Arrival at Delhi Airport and transfer to the hotel. Free rest day .
Day 02: Delhi – Chandigarh – Shimla (380 kms) (9 hours) (2100 meters)
Drive or take train towards Chandigarh early morning after breakfast, You will have lunch in Chandigarh. After lunch, drive towards Shimla by car where you will stay for the night.
Day 03: Sightseeing in Shimla
Sightseeing in Shimla will begin after breakfast. You will visit major attractions of Shimla such as Mall Road, Lakkad bazar, Chrust church, state museum etc. We will also need to process our inner line permits for Kinnaur and Spiti in Shimla.
Day 04: Shimla – Narkanda – Hattu Peak – Rampur – Saharan (175 Km) (7 hours) (2000 meters)
After an early morning wakeup, we will drive towards Sarhan and visit Kufri, Theog, Narkanda, Matiana on the way. A small hike to Hattu Peak (3135 m) is also possible. You wil reach Sarhan in evening and checkin the hotel for rest and overnight stay.
Day 05: Sarahan – Wangtu – Karcham – Sangla (92 Km) (4 hours) (2600 meters)
Sightseeing in Sarhan will begin by an early morning visit to bird park. Then it’s time for Bhim Kali temple. This temple used to be a site where human sacrifice used to be practiced many centuries past. After temple, you will drive towards Karcham and pass over Wangtu bridge and pass Jeori. After a rest stop, you will reach Sangla and check in at hotel. If there is enough time, you can visit Kamra Fort and temple of the village deity.
Day 06: Sangla – Chitkul (3600mtrs) – Raksham – Sangla. (52 Km) (3 hours) (2600 meters)
Next morning, you will start your drive towards Chitkul ( 3460 m) which is the last village on India Tibet border, There you can take a walk in this landmark village soaking in the sights of majestic mountains and various other awe inspiring sights. Drive back to Sangla for night stay.
Day 07: Sangla – Rekong Peo – Kalpa (49 Km) (3 hours) (2950 meters)
After breakfast, you will drive towards Reckong Peo via Powari. There you will see the ancient 60 feet tall statue of Lord Buddha in all it’s glory. Then you will reach Kalpa for overnight stay. The view of majestic Kinner Kailash mountain at 6050 meters is the prime attraction in addition to the village monastery.
Day 08: Kalpa – Nako (110 Km) (5 hours) (3540 meters)
After Reckong Peo, the terrain changes to that of a high altitude desert. The drive will take you through Puh to Nako for overnight stay. Nako has one beautiful lake and monastery which are the star attractions of the place, A walk through this picturesque village is a calming experience.
Day 09: Nako – Tabo (60 Km) (3 hours) (3050 meters)
After a short walk through vilage, the druve will take you to Tabo village (3050 m). Tabo monastery is more than a 1000 years old and people from far off places come to this monastery to pay their respects. Night stay will be in a hotel or homestay.
Day 10: Tabo – Dhankar (3850 meters) – Lalung (3930 meters) – Kaza (94 Km) (4 hours) (3350 meters)
First stop of day 10 will be Dhankar, the ancient capital of Spiti. After visiting Dhankar museum, you’ll visit Dhankar lake famous for it’s beauty and fishes. Next, we will stop at Lalung for lunch and some sightseeing including Lalung monastery. The day’s drive will end at Kaza, the district headquarters and largest town of the region.
Day 11: Kaza – Kungri – Mudh – Kaza (98 kms) (4 hours) (3350 meters)
After leaving Kaza, it’s time for Pin Valley, which is famous for it’s wildlife like Ibex, Snow leopard, chinguk, pika etc. It’s quite possible to see a few animals every now and then if you are patient or lucky. A 2 km hike towards Pin Parvati is a nice spot for some wildlife spotting. Lunch will be in Mudg and on way back, you can visit Kungri monastery, home to an exotic sect of Buddhism.
Day 12: Kaza – Key Monestry – Lang Za (4280 meters) – Komic (4560 meters) – Kaza (78 kms) (3350 meters)
Next morning, you will visit Key monastery and then drive on world’s highest motorable road towards Komic (4560 m). Lunch will be served in a local’s house in Langza. There you can visit the fossil park and see a few fossils millions of years old. Drive back to Kaza for night stay.
Day 13: Kaza —Losar—Kunzum la— Chandrataal Lake
After an early morning wakeup, you will reach Chandrataal Lake while passing through Kunzum La (4551 m). where most travelers stop to pay respects to the deity and pray for safe journey. Night will be spent in a campsite about 1 km from the lake.Meaning of Chandrataal is Moon Lake and is a major attraction of Spiti.
Day 14: Chandrataal Lake – Rohtang—Manali
After breakfast, you will leave for Manali while driving through Batal, Chota Darra, Gramphu and Rohtang pass (3970 m). The route is highly picturesque and once you cross Rohtang, the terrain gets much greener as it receives heavy rainfall. Nightstay in a Manali hotel.
Day 15: Manali – Naggar – Mandi – Rewalsar (144 kms) (6 hours) (1350 meters)
After breakfast, drive to Rewalsar (1350 m) a small hamlet via Mandi. After having lunch there, it’s time for some sightseeing in monastery and lake.
Day 16: Rewalsar – Joginder nagar – Palampur – Dharamshala – Mcleodganj. (152 kms) (5 hours) (1750 meters)
Next morning, drive towards Dharmsala (Mcleodganj) via Palampur famous for tea gardens and some adventure sports. You can visit the famous Baijanath Shiv Temple if time permits. Night stay in Mcleodganj after reaching there in evening.
Day 17: Mcleodganj – Dalai Lama temple – Bhagsu nag – Dal Lake. (20 kms) (3 hours) (1750 meters)
Early morning is the time to visit Dalai Lama temple and residence. Then you can walk through the charming streets of the Mcleodganj town and have breakfast, Bhagsu Nag, a beautiful waterfall with it’s panoramic sight of Dhualadhar mountain ranges is next stop. Then You can visit Dal Lake, a small scenic lake with an old temple nearby. On way back stop for a while in St John In The Wilderness Church. Night stay in hotel.

Day 18: Mcleodganj – Dharamshala – Rani Taal – Chandigarh (280 kms) (7 hours) (370 meters)
Reach Chandigarh late afternoon and checkin at hotel for rest and lunch. During evening you can visit Sukhna Lake or relax in famous sector 17 market.
Day 19: Chandigarh – Kurukshetra – Sonipat – Delhi (250 kms) (5 hours)
Take the train or drive towards Delhi next morning. Checkin at the hotel for rest or drop at airport according to schedule.
